Program

The Avala Art Lab residency program is based on field research and on-site engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration among artists, scientists, and experts from diverse fields, mentorship and professional support throughout the research and creative process, and knowledge exchange, public dialogue, and participatory activities.

Participants develop projects through independent and collective work, with ongoing guidance from mentors and collaborators across disciplines. A special emphasis is placed on systematic collaboration with artistic and scientific organizations, institutions, the artistic and student community, as well as the civil sector, fostering networking and knowledge exchange within a broader social and professional context.

Avala Lab organizes lectures and talks, workshops, open studios, and exhibitions and presentations through the Micro Gallery. The public program is an integral part of the residency, focusing on knowledge exchange, networking, and audience engagement.

The residency provides diverse spatial environments that allow for various formats of artistic presentation: from classic exhibition setups in gallery spaces to outdoor areas that can exist independently or in relation to interior spaces. A key feature is the cascading landscape and forest environment of Avala, which enables artists to experiment with outdoor installations, performances, and interactive projects.
